Here are some healthy eating
tips to help you get started:

Fresh fruits and vegetables, 3-5 servings daily.

Iron and folic acid supplements as needed (talk to your doctor).

Complex carbohydrates (such as whole grain breads and cereals, brown rice, vegetables,
beans, peas and potatoes) 6-8 servings daily.

Proteins (such as low-fat or skim milk, cheese, tuna, skinless chicken or
turkey, tofu, eggs) 4 servings daily.

| |
Vitamin C foods (such as grapefruit, oranges, mango, strawberries, broccoli)
2 servings daily.

| |
Drink plenty of water, at least eight 8 ounce glasses (2 quarts) each day.
|

Eat smaller, more frequent meals, especially if nausea is a problem.
|

| |
Take prenatal vitamins daily. If nausea is a problem, take with food.
|

Limit fatty, salty and unhealthy snacks. Choose instead fruits or snacks high in
fiber. (If diagnosed with gestational diabetes, you will need to follow stringent
