When You’re a Patient

Little Company of Mary sets high standards for providing quality medical care. We strive for excellence in every area of your care and our goal is to work together to ensure your needs are met. The personalized, professional service and care you receive is a direct result of the commitment to quality that our physicians, employees and volunteers make on a daily basis. While you are here, we will do everything within our power to make your stay as pleasant as possible. Here are a few things you should know before your hospital stay to make preparations a little easier.

All patients are scheduled for a visit with a pre-admission nurse. If your physician’s office has not made an appointment for you, please call (310) 543-5982 and we will schedule an appointment at your convenience.

At the time of your pre-admission appointment, you may want to bring a family member or trusted friend with you. We can help answer questions they may have, as well as your own questions, at this time.

Upon your admission to the hospital, you will need to bring the following information with you:

• Current insurance card - or credit card or cash for payment or deposit
• Picture ID
• Insurance authorization (if you have received one)
• Physician orders or paperwork
• Blood donor cards
• Advance Directive (see below)

Please leave all other valuables at home.

Another aspect of your health care you may want to consider, prior to entering the hospital, is choosing whom you would like to make health care decisions for you in the event that you are unable to make these decisions yourself. The Durable Power of Attorney for Health Care allows you to designate someone to carry out your health care wishes if you are incapacitated. The Durable Power of Attorney for Health Care document and notarization are available at your request.
