In 1988, Pope John Paul II declared Mary Potter venerable. This is the first
in a succession of steps toward sainthood. Her legacy is tangible as our employees, staff,
physicians, volunteers and Sisters work side by side each day to continue to fulfill Mary
Potters mission and provide high-quality health care to those in need. Marys
loving spirit continues to guide the work of her spiritual heirs today. The spiritual
heritage of Mary Potter is carried on throughout the world. The Sisters of Little Company
of Mary now provide much-needed services in 14 countries on five continents. Their healing
touch can be felt in: England, Scotland, Ireland, Northern Ireland, Albania, Wales, Australia,
New Zealand, Korea, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Italy, The Kingdom of Tonga and the
United States.
Today, Little Company of Mary Hospital in Torrance, Little Company of Mary Hospital in San
Pedro and more than 30 other health care delivery sites and outreach services comprise
the integrated health care system of Little Company of Mary. Serving the greater South Bay,
Harbor and Palos Verdes Peninsula communities, Little Company of Mary is dedicated to the
mission of the Sisters of Little Company of Mary, as well as providing quality health care
for its communities.
