I love children, remarked Gausche-Hill. I am excited to be part of a
hospital that recognizes that children have special health care needs. I want to
continue to deliver state-of-the-art health care to our younger population.
The Emergency Department has earmarked two rooms as pediatric emergency rooms. Both
rooms will be equipped with special cardiac monitoring equipment, blood drawing and
IV supplies, and examination equipment. Mark Costa believes it is the combination of
the hospitals specialized facilities, equipment and Dr. Gausche-Hills expertise that
will make LCMHs pediatric emergency room unique.
Dr. Gausche-Hill is a leader in pediatric emergency care. She is nationally
recognized and she has written case studies for many national medical journals. She
also has received many awards and accolades for her dedication to the field of pediatric
emergency care, said Costa. When Little Company of Mary Hospital administrators
decided to open up a pediatric ER, she was the natural choice. Dr. Gausche-Hill
received her medical degree from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1983 and she
completed her internship and residency at HarborUCLA Medical Center in 1986. Before
joining Little Company of Mary Hospitals Emergency Department, Dr. Gausche-Hill was the
Prehospital Care Director at HarborUCLA. She is currently a Professor of Medicine
at UCLA and plans to continue teaching. One of her primary goals is to provide training
and education about caring for children to other medical professionals who work in
the ER.
I am excited to have this opportunity to work closely with such a professional
emergency medical staff, said Gausche-Hill. Each one us are dedicated to bringing
the best care possible to anyone who is a patient in the emergency room. I look forward to
establishing a working relationship with the physicians, prehospital professionals, nurses,
and parents in the South Bay community. Together, we have a great opportunity to optimize the
care our children receive.
